Maryknoll Lay Missioners is a Catholic mission-sending community. We are long-term missioners and missioner families serving in nine African, Asian, and American countries.
Compelled by faith to engage with people across cultures and ethnicities, we live, love, and work with communities on the margins to promote active nonviolence and healing, create an inclusive and anti-racist world, and transform unjust structures together.
For half a century, Maryknoll Lay Missioners has sent nearly 1,000 men, women, and families to serve in 34 countries. Thousands more lent their financial, moral, and prayerful support.
Being missioners today is different than the missionary models of previous centuries. Today, our missioners work alongside local partners to build capacity and empower communities, fostering the growth of just and compassionate societies.
We foster greater solidarity by accompanying people from different cultures, races, languages, and religions.
Listening to each other’s realities, we build relationships of mutual friendship and respect to help heal today’s fractured world.
Maryknoll Lay Missioners:

Lay missioners go to mission as representatives of the U.S. church and are supported by U.S. Catholics. We show respect for our supporters through careful stewardship of the resources they pass on to us. And we bring back to them the spiritual riches we have gained through our own on-going conversion among the peoples of the world.
We make sure the funds generously entrusted to us go where they are most needed. Donations are used effectively and efficiently to make a difference. Our ministries and programs are carefully executed, monitored, and evaluated by our talented staff—some of the best and brightest—who have chosen to dedicate their lives to serving the poor overseas.
Our work would be simply impossible without the financial contribution of our friends and benefactors.
Join us in pursuing justice, compassion, and dignity for all creation. Be our partner in mission! SUPPORT Maryknoll Lay Missioners at mklm.org or 800.867.2980.
