The Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross is a religious congregation of priests and brothers founded in the Philippines by Mrs. Leticia Tordesillas Albert and with Bishop Camilo D. Gregorio of the Diocese of Bacolod as Bishop-Protector.
It started in 1976 as a Catholic youth group in the public high schools of Metropolitan Manila known as the Youth Marian Crusade (YMC). This youth group spread not only within Metro-Manila but in the nearby provinces of Rizal and Laguna and eventually in other places in the whole country of the Philippines. With God’s great providence, we are also now serving the local Churches in Taiwan and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
It was from the core group of the YMC that the first brothers of the congregation emerged. This core group evolved into what is now known as the Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross. At present, the MMHC is serving in more than 10 Archdioceses and Dioceses in the Philippines, the Diocese of Hsinchu in Taiwan, and because of the shortage of priests in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, we are also administering the Parishes of Holy Family in Artesia and St. John of God in Norwalk, Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Our preferential option for the poor is embodied in our extensive apostolate to the youth especially those in the public high schools and prisons. This MISSION APPEAL is for our Youth and Prison Apostolate in the Philippines and the Priestly Formation of the members of the Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross.
