The Diocese of San Jose, Nueva Ecija in the Philippines was created on February 16, 1984, and inaugurated on July 14, 1984. Present Ordinary is Most Reverend Roberto Mallari, DD. It comprises the City of San Jose, the Science City of Munoz & 12 other municipalities in the Northern Province of Nueva Ecija in Central Luzon. The 21 Parishes are still mission territories composed mostly of hard-working farmers – who produce rice, onions, garlic & vegetables. The far flung areas in the mountains and villages are settled by diverse Native Indigenous Tribes. There are 40 Diocesan Priests and 10 Religious Clergy administering the 21 Parish Communities & 3 Mission Stations. There are also 25 religious sisters from 7 different Religious Congregations.
