Working in 79 countries and on every continent except Antarctica, Divine Word Missionaries is one of the largest religious orders in the Roman Catholic Church with over 6,000 members worldwide.
Founded in 1875 by Saint Arnold Janssen, Divine Word Missionaries work first and foremost where the Gospel has not been preached or where the local church cannot survive without the assistance of missionary service. Their first missionary, Saint Joseph Freinademetz SVD was sent to China in 1879. Today their ministries reach around the world.
Our missionaries meet the challenges of poverty, hunger, illness and natural disasters with hearts full of love and compassion. They bring tangible solutions so that people in need have food, shelter, and medical care. Divine Word Missionaries foster vibrant Catholic communities of faith while empowering people to live a life of quality and dignity.
Your prayers and support give us strength to continue this work. Thank you!
Divine Word Missionaries’ worldwide mission is made possible in great part through the support of the Mission Cooperation Program of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Our priests and Brothers—and those they serve—rely on the prayers and generosity of church communities such as ours.
Dear parishioners, thanks once more for supporting Divine Word Missionaries. Be assured of our prayers as we ask you to pray for us. For more information, please visit our website WWW.SVDMISSIONS.ORG
